Federica Pellegrini is the 2023 face of Women in Coffee, the women-focused social sustainability by Caffè Vergnano.
Gender equality is a theme that is very dear to me. This is why I welcome projects such as Women in Coffee that help raise awareness among younger generations.
Federica Pellegrini, born on August 5, 1998, hails from Mirano, Venice. Her parents, Cinzia and Roberto Pellegrini, introduced her to swimming at a tender age when she could barely walk. Since then, the athlete fondly refers to herself as a “freshwater creature.”
Federica was associated with Circolo Canottieri Aniene, and she still holds the world record in the 200m freestyle. She is also the only Italian swimmer to have broken the world record in multiple specialties. Federica made history by becoming the first Italian woman to win a gold medal in swimming at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the 200m freestyle. She also became the youngest Italian national to stand on an Olympic podium, securing an Olympic Silver at the 2004 Athens Games.
