The recipe for home-made coffee gelato Gelato is a bit like coffee: they both offer a pleasant break. So why don’t you combine them and use Caffè Vergnano’s recipe? Coffee gelato is quick and easy to prepare and can be made at home from scratch with common household ingredients, either with or without the help of a gelato maker. The important thing is to choose a blend of the finest quality to ensure a unique flavour and aroma.
Ingredients:
- 100ml Caffè Vergnano espresso coffee (about three coffee cups)
- 200ml fresh whipping cream
- 200ml whole milk
- 125g castor sugar
- Coffee beans or dark chocolate chips for decoration
The steps, with or without a gelato maker Having a gelato maker at home can always come in handy, but even if you don’t have one you can still make this deliciously fresh coffee dessert in a few simple steps. First, make some coffee with your Moka pot, pour it into a bowl, add sugar to your liking and let it cool down at room temperature. Add the whipped cream and the milk and pour the mixture into a blender, or mix the ingredients together with an electric whisker. Pour the cream into a stainless-steel mixing bowl with high sides and place in the freezer for 30 minutes. After half an hour, remove the bowl from the freezer and whisk the mixture for about 10 minutes. Repeat this process 4 or 5 times every 30 minutes. When the cream becomes thick, you can serve the dessert topped with some coffee beans or dark chocolate chips. This recipe is even easier with a gelato maker. After preparing the coffee, add sugar, whipped cream and milk, then simply pour the mixture into the gelato maker and set the speed to 1 for 20 minutes. Let it chill in the freezer for half a day before serving.
