THE ART OF COFFEE
SINCE 1882
A company with a long and prestigious history, Caffè Vergnano was founded way back in 1882. The company began as a small grocer's shop in Chieri, a small town at the foot of the Turin hills, set up by the grandfather of the current owners of the company, Domenico Vergnano.

A REAL
PASSION
The Vergnano family's true vocation soon became clear - within a few years, that small shop mastered all the secrets of roasting and selling coffee. The company grew at an astonishing rate, and the first three Italian shops were opened in Turin, Alba and Chieri. But the true leap forward happened in the 1930s, and was the outcome of a brave decision - the purchase of a coffee factory in Kenya.

INTERNATIONAL
DEVELOPMENT
The company can look to the future with confidence, standing strong with their 13500 square metre factory and 14 automatic production lines. In 2008, they become the seventh biggest Italian large scale distributor in the HORECA sector, present in 19 regions with more than 4000 clients, and more than 40 branches in 13 countries worldwide. What's more, the company exports successfully to more than 60 countries worldwide.
OUR COFFEE: A PERFECT BLEND OF TRADITION AND INNOVATION.
Caffè Vergnano follows the finest traditions, but at the same time is one of the most dynamic and avant-garde producers. The superior quality of the blends comes from the meticulous selection of the best raw materials available, and an extraordinary production process. The roasting is the most important step in coffee production, since the concentration of taste and flavour in the beans depends on the exact level of roasting. During this phase, Caffè Vergnano uses traditional methods to work the coffee even today. The different coffee varieties are roasted separately, type by type, so that just the right level of roasting can be achieved. In contrast to the majority of modern large roasting factories, which function according to specific "turbo" industrial methods, in 5-6 minute cycles at a high temperature, Caffè Vergnano uses a "slow" roasting system, with cycles which last between 18 and 22 minutes. For each new cycle, the roasting of each batch is individually controlled, to guarantee a product with perfectly uniform quality, roasted for the correct amount of time.
QUALITY IS OUR COMPANY'S NUMBER ONE PRIORITY.
Since 1999, the Casa del Caffè Vergnano has firmly adhered to the new World Environmental Policies, believing that improving of the quality of the environment goes hand in hand with improved quality of human life. The company decided to operate in accordance with the mandatory and voluntary regulations regarding protection of the environment and product safety. In order to fulfill this ambition, Caffè Vergnano allocated specific personnel as responsible for achieving the Environmental Quality and Food Safety objectives introduced by the voluntary international regulations UNI EN ISO 14001:2004, IFS (International Food Standard) and BRC (British Retail Consortium), allocating its own independent Quality Office for the management of these personnel.
HIGH QUALITY AND LOW ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT.
We work with dedication and passion every day to bring you the highest quality coffee.
Our work is serious, dedicated and constantly evolving. We are continually researching our materials, because every product can contribute to maintaining and improving the balance of our planet. To communicate this commitment, we introduced our logo, "Caffè Vergnano for the environment" which indicates that our products are environmentally friendly. And this is the story of a perfect coffee.
